Build up your Immunity with Ayurveda

The natural defense mechanism present in our body is known as the immune system. It is a complex system of cells, tissues, and organs that unite to fight against disease containing viruses, bacteria, parasites, and even fungus. A healthy immune system is like a wall that stops these invaders from entering our body and creating disease. Ayurveda considers immunity from three different perspectives. They are:

  1. Bala – It signifies the strength of the body to repair and nourish itself and be effective in disease prevention
  2. Vyadhi Kshamathwa- It denotes the ability of the body to resist the development of diseases
  3. Ojas – It is concerned with the building up of a supreme resilience against any disease that is caused by an imbalance be it physical or mental.

In Ayurveda, the understanding of all the three aspects will help develop a strong immune system in the human body. The ability to withstand diseases can only be developed by maintaining a state of perfect equilibrium in the body, mind, and soul.

Factors to bolster immunity are :

  1. Balanced diet – Ayurveda propagates the fact that a properly balanced diet is essential for health and happiness. It mentions that six major tastes – sweet, sour, salty, pungent, bitter, and astringent should be present in our everyday diet as each of these tastes has specific health-giving effects. Ayurveda also believes that there is a direct relation between digestion and immunity. A fully functional digestive system uses food to produce ‘Ojas’ that help maintains the balance in all the bodily systems. Two Ayurvedic tonics manufactured by Branolia Chemical Works, Livonia and Bellytone, help augment the overall digestion process. Livonia fortified with some of the herbs like Triphala, Kalmegha has a rejuvenating effect on the three elements in Ayurveda, Vatta, Pitta, and Kapha. The herbs in Livonia enhance the overall functioning of the liver thus aiding digestion. On the other hand, Bellytone from the house of Branolia Chemical Works helps in keeping the stomach clean and removes all problems arising out of indigestion and constipation. The key ingredients present in Bellytone are Sonpata, Haritaki, Teori, and Ajwain which helps in fighting constipation effectively.
  2. Regular sleep leading to a reduction in stress- Varying sleep patterns and stress also weakens the immunity. Ayurveda considers all kinds of stress that have an effect on the human body leading to irregular sleep patterns. One of the herbs often used in Ayurveda to fight stress is Brahmi and Ashwagandha. Branolia, a brain tonic made with herbs like Brahmi and Ashwagandha is known to reduce anxiety, stress, and exhaustion. Regular intake of Branolia will not only enhance memory and concentration but will also increase the brain functioning by reducing stress.
  3. Maintain a Healthy Weight – Lack of exercise will lead to an imbalance in metabolism and hormonal functions which in turn will have a negative effect on immunity. Obesity may also give rise to cardiovascular diseases resulting in low immunity. Branolia’s Honeyguard is known as an immunity booster packed with the goodness of honey for people of all age groups.
  4. Remain Hydrated Always – Low intake of fluid often reduces the body’s capacity to fight diseases. Drinking plenty of water enhances the body’s capacity to fight diseases.

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle with good personal hygiene is essential for bolstering immunity.
